Students worked in partners or groups of three to sort their words containing the a sound like in cake. Then using the Doceri app to mirror their sort, the groups went to the smart board and explained their sort, identifying the letters used to make the long a sound as in cake. Several groups quickly saw after other groups explained that they had rushed a little bit and others saw they had too many or too few columns and quickly resorted. Each group successfully resorted their words correctly and ended up with six columns. These pictures were their first attempt. Keep up the hard work almost third graders! :)
