What Have We Been Up To?

Fall is so beautiful! I just wish it would slow down! Feels like it will be winter in no time.

The 2nd six weeks is flying by! We have so many awesome readers! They are just flying through their reading levels! I am so proud of them! In Math we are counting coins & comparing their values & adding with coins. We have also just finished up our graphing unit. In Science we are learning about sound, magnets, motion, & matter. Check out this cool sound game using a guitar to defeat Rackweed. The kids loved this!http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/ks2/science/physical_processes/sound/play/ All the games on this site are really awesome & engaging! This guitar game gets harder, it was even difficult for me!

We have been working hard keeping up with our Data Notebooks- I will try to get  picture soon! Students are tracking & graphing their behavior, reading levels, tests, and writing samples for each six weeks.

Here are a few of my sweet boys peer teaching a new Daily 5 Center. ABC Stick order. I wrote all of our word wall words on the sticks, they choose 8, and alphabetize!

Here are our 2nd grade ambassadors. They are teacher selected and represent an ideal student and citizen at Lawndale Elementary. These two students are very hard workers, polite, always follow the rules, and work hard to set examples for their classmates. Proud of you two little Lawndale Bears! :) Keep up the good work!

Just a little class room rearranging:::

Whisper phones:
We use these for Read to Someone during Daily 5.
